It is very possible to have a hangover without ever drinking more than a glass of wine. You feel tired, sluggish, unmotivated and crabby. The phenomenon is especially seen on Mondays, sometimes carrying over to Tuesdays. It's all due to the weekend hangover. My preceptor says, "It's Monday, and you're moody. It is the American way." It's when you have entirely too much fun in a two day span and then have to come back to work, realizing five more days are ahead of you before you get to have that much fun again.
I am definitely still hungover from the weekend. I stayed in Chanute to take call on my rural rotation. Dann and Carson joined me at the resident house for the weekend as well. My preceptor, his wife, and 3 year old daughter invited us over to their home Friday night and we definitely overstayed our welcome (I think we left around 1:00 in the morning?) Then, Dann and I enjoyed a laid back Saturday. My preceptor was kind enough to round without me; I'm pretty sure this defeated the purpose of taking call this weekend, but I won't question it. We took Carson to Santa Fe Park in Chanute and let him run out his energy for a few hours. We then joined my preceptor, his nurse and receptionist, and a big group of his friends for dinner at Mo Gedi's. I enjoyed the chicken shawarma. It was not on the menu but the chef made the delicious Arab dish for Muniba and I. Afterwards, we all headed over to the Ranas home for more fun. Carson was very excited to get to join us and certainly gave more than his fair share of kisses. Dann left the next day, after a long walk for Carson's benefit prior to his two hour drive home. I joined Dr. Rana for rounds on Sunday, so I did accomplish something academic on my required "call" weekend.
So, as wonderful as the weekend was, I am still "hungover". I have three more days of clinic in Chanute, with no surgeries or deliveries in sight. I am sad this is my last week, but I will be happy to be home with my boys on Thursday night! Until then, I'll post (far too many) pictures from this weekend.

| Carson exploring the resident house. |
| Trying his best to ruin anything he can... |
| Jaws!! |
| Michael Jackson?? |
| Dann, no matter how hard you try, I'm pretty sure that train is not going anywhere. |
| Not so Michael Jackson, with a puppy who is no longer in fear of his life. |
| Dann said, "What is that thing!?" What kind of 25 year old has never seen a merry-go-round? Now that's just sad. |
| Look, Carson "dug out!" |
| A man, his stick, and his dog. |
| So sleepy, and thirsty! |
| Stephanie and Rebecca, who decided double fisting was the way to go. |
| Rebecca and her gorgeous daughter Elizabeth, trying on my necklace. |
| Dr. Rana, Rebecca (and Elizabeth!), Stephanie and I...with Carson peeking his head out in his kennel. |
| Enjoying the weather and a quick bonfire! |
| Carson, trying to behave himself as Dr. Rana pet a dog for the first time. |
| Dann and his beetle nuts, a present from the Ranas. Dr. Rana swore that no "American" would ever like these. He thinks Dann was born in the wrong country! I'm sure Dann hurried home to order some more online! |
