In Other Rooms…

So the kitchen is not the only room that has undergone rehabilitation.  I’ve attacked most of the rooms on the main floor, and even done a bit in the upstairs bedrooms (a bit = shopping for new bed linens…not quite the complete makeover).  I am not nearly as “done” with these rooms as I am the kitchen.  The kitchen only has three things left to do on the to-do list (did I mention, one of my favorite things in life is checking things off my to-do lists!?!)  I can’t tell you what those are, because then you’d be searching for them in the pictures of the kitchen – no fun!

For my own viewing pleasure (and my mom’s, who helped me SO much with all of this)…here are the other rooms.

Our family room, with the living room furniture occupying it before we got our new pieces.  The green and the dark paneling look just plain shameful together, and the fireplace cover is something made in horror films.  A new fireplace screen later, and a lovely bit of art from my sweet maid of honor/younger sister Kelli, it has transformed at least a little.  Here is what it looks like now (keep in mind, I have big plans for lightening this room up, starting with painting the wood paneling):

Moving on, the hall bathroom needed quite a bit of TLC.  The pinks and flowers and wallpaper were just too much.  My mom bought me a pretty green and white bathroom rug, and the inspiration was there – a splash of color in a small room never hurt anyone.  The before, during, and after (those are our honeymoon pictures in black and white on the walls):

Next is our bedroom.  I wanted a quiet, peaceful place to relax.  We went from hideous wallpaper to the same grey color used in the kitchen, and I have to say I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.  We still do not have doors on the closet, but we’ll get there (I HAD to get those horrible mirror doors down).  And the frame above our bed will hold 21 of our wedding photos when we get them!

PRETTY sure no one is reading this anymore.  But it is making me happy to see how far we’ve come, so no turning back now!  Here is the dining room (which had the same awful wallpaper our bedroom once did) transformation:

And the living room…(LOVE the wall color):

And the two bedrooms upstairs (as you can see, NO work has been done to the third bedroom other than purchasing from Crate and Barrel!):

We are still working on the master bathroom pretty much everything still.  But I’m starting to feel not quite so nauseated when I look at the walls/floors/cabinets.  With residency coming up, the work on the house will come to a screeching halt, but I’d say we’ve made pretty good progress so far!
